Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974

Texarkana College complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974, which is designed to protect the privacy of education records, establish the right of students to inspect and review their education records, and provide guidelines for the correction of inaccurate or misleading data through informal and formal hearings.

Students also have the right to file complaints with The Family Policy Compliance Office regarding alleged failures by the institution to comply with the Act. For additional information, please contact the Office of Enrollment Services.

Texarkana College considers students to be independent of their parents with respect to their educational records; however, information may be disclosed to the parents by obtaining the student’s written consent.
